Apart from conventional traffic route engineering, Bickhardt Bau operates a powerful subsidiary called MKW Mitteldeutsche Hartstein- Kies- und Mischwerke GmbH which is entirely dedicated to the exploitation, refinement and marketing of raw and building materials. Rocks in different qualities are currently excavated in more than 16 locations in Thuringia, Saxony-Anhalt and Hesse. Modern process technology ensures that the grain sizes required by the customers regarding the different rocks are achieved. The range of products extends from material for the substructure, anti-freeze layers and bound base layers to the classified superstructure made of asphalt and concrete. In this way, large construction sites can be supplied with all important building materials from one source. Continuous self-monitoring by inhouse lab assistants and building materials testers and the permanent monitoring by independent external laboratories ensure superior qualities.
MKW which took over the traditional Hessian company Stormarnwerke Frielendorf GmbH & Co. KG at the end of 2010 has altogether six stone quarries, six gravel plants and six asphalt mixing plants in its 15 locations. Ready-mixed concrete plants also belong to the subsidiary. Sales offices in Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia and Hesse take care of distribution and marketing of the products.
